What it does

Coolify gives applications and supporting services a shared deployment interface on infrastructure you control. It brings repository connections, deployment configuration and operational actions into a more legible place. The value is a shorter route from a change in Git to a running service, rather than a promise that infrastructure disappears.

Where it fits

A small team with a server and several projects may benefit from a consistent deployment surface. Our suggestion is to compare it with the existing script or container setup first. Adding a platform is worthwhile when it reduces repeated work for the operator, not merely because it resembles the console of a larger cloud provider.

What to check

The host still needs updates, access controls, storage capacity and a recovery procedure. Application deployment and database recovery are different tasks. Keep administrative access separate from the public site, and verify which data is included in each backup. Plan how to restore the service if the deployment platform itself is unavailable.

A useful first experiment

Deploy a disposable application on a test host. Change a setting, trigger a failed build and return to a known-good version. Back up the data and restore it into a fresh environment. Record the steps that require manual work. This is an evaluation checklist based on the project documentation, not a report of an executed recovery test.
